What is the BTEC Art&Design course

BTEC courses provide a more practical, real-world approach to learning in addition to a theoretical background, ensuring you gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed for employment and future studies. The work experience content will also support your career development opportunities.

Each unit will be assessed through the completion of assignments that includes a range of evidence types through which you can demonstrate your learning.

This BTEC level 3 course will comprise of 180 hours of guided learning and will earn you 30 credits. The courses you will complete are:

Visual recording in Art and Design (10 credits).

In this unit you will compile a portfolio of evidence to meet the grading criteria for each unit we will work on.

Before starting this course, you need to understand how the BTEC is delivery and assessment work. That is why we will discuss:

• the specification (structure, content, grading grids, level of programme and equivalency)
• the purpose of the assignment briefs
• the relationship between the tasks given in an assignment and the grading criteria
• the way that the BTEC grading grids work in relation to your prior experience of other assessment models
• internal assessment procedures and ISH centre policies
• the concept of deadlines and hand-in dates
• the concept of vocational and work-related learning
• learner responsibility.
